Christ Sightings in La Candelaria

Some people would contend that Christ has long been present in La Candelaria - after all, the very, very Catholic Spanish made evangelization the justification and a major goal of their conquest of their New World territory. But over the last few days I've spotted several Christs in La Candelaria - and they don't exactly follow the biblical account.

I saw this scene the other day in the Callejon del Embudo, off of the Plaza del Chorro. University students were making a video in which Christ falls in love with Mary Magdalen.

Mary Magdalen also appears to be smitten by Jesus....and it's more than religious passion. 

The other evening, I spotted this guy making his way up Carrera 3 - Jesus Christ struggling with the cross?

No, it was the owner of the La Agonia art gallery on 9th St., carrying home part of an art project.
