The Lost Children of Armero

The Romero volcanic eruption of 1985 killed some 20,000 people, mostly when mud slides covered whole towns. For these people, who were demonstrating today on Plaza Bolivar, the tragedy continues. They believe that their children, who disappeared during the eruption, did not die, but were given up for adoption amidst the chaos and are living with families overseas with new identities. A woman at the event told us that several such children have been found living with adoptive families in Holland.
