Two Looks at Catholic Art

A holy family.

The Neebex art gallery in Candelaria has a sacred Catholic art exhibition by two very different artists. One is Rosita de Ruiz, very devout 80-year-old woman who has painted classical religious works her whole life. The other is by Andres Torres, a 20-year-old art student at La Universidad Jorge Tadeo.

Can you guess which is which?

Torres, also a devout Catholic, finds his inspiration in popular music and old North American blues music lyrics. But he says the only reason that he doesn't make work like that of de Ruiz is "I don't have the patience."

He didn't seem concerned about the fact that few of those old blues singers were Catholic.
