Cleaning up Bogotá's Red Light District

A clean sweep in front of the Oasis nightclub. 

Today, the cops set the employees of the brothels in Bogotá's red light district, formally known as its downtown 'tolerance zone' to work sweeping the streets.

One of the cops told me they do this regularly, altho this was the first time I'd witnessed the phenomenon.

"They're sweeping up the cigarrete butts," the cop said. When I asked him why they didn't call the prostitutes, who stood in the doorways watching, out to help, he just grinned.

The streets may now be clean, but I suspect there's still lots of dirty business going on indoors.
