The start of Bogotá's rainy season has coincided with two major theatre festivals - some of whose performances are scheduled for parks, plazas and streets. So, organizers kicked off the event with today's 'Parade of the chamanes' - spirit workers who are supposed to be able to stop the rain. Someone reportedly even hired chamanes to prevent rain at last year's Under-20 World Cup and at Pres. Santos' inauguration.
In both those earlier cases, some rain fell, altho the chaman in question said that if not for his powers it would have rained even more. This time, however, even the combined efforts of dozens of chamanes and other characters could not stop the rain from falling on the parade itself.
Let's hope the rain takes a break for the theatre.
These folks found a bird's eye's viewpoint for the parade. |
