La Peluqueria's Back in La Candelaria!

After a year spent rebuilding its roof, wiring and other stuff, La Peluqueria - La Candelaria's quirky, colorful mixture of hair salon, art gallery and music venue - is back in operation.

The roof replacement work was supposed to take two months, but lasted a year, during which La Peluqueria occupied a room in A Seis Manos, an art café on Calle 21, just off of La Septima. They plan to continue working there, as well.
The new roof of bamboo, or guadua,
designed by Simón Veléz.

The bamboo roof was designed by architect Simón Veléz, who is well known for his work with the material, known here as guadua.

Today's dance performance was a sort of inauguration ceremony.
