Two groups, representing Maya worshippers and Hare Krishnas, commemorated the end of the Mayan Long-Count Calendar today on Plaza Bolivar.
The event was a strange combination of cultures and beliefs, since the Mayan culture was far from Colombia, as are the Hare Krishnas.
Reportedly, some Colombians built underground bunkers in preparation for the world's end, which didn't happen. But this was far from the first time that people, in Colombia or elsewhere, have predicted the world's end - and continued living to tell about it.
