Bogotá's Patch Corner

A couple's patch and button business has transformed a drab corner into something colorful.

A couple's homemade patch business has converted this nondescript spot at the intersection of Carrera 8 and Calle 22 into one of the most colorful corners in Bogotá.

The couple have been manufacturing patches for 11 years and seem ideologically agnostic. They sell Stars of David, Swastikas and hammers and sickles. Football logos, rock bands and flags of many nations. Anything that sells. A medley of popular and political culture.

They also make custom patches, as well as buttons, in their workshop in the La Candelaria Nueva neighborhood. Call the Fabrica de Parches Diana at 311-836-9681.

My dog Parchita, 'little patches', poses in front of a wall of patches.
